MEN'S HOOP COMPLETES SEASON SWEEP OF PURPLE KNIGHTS

BOX SCORE

COLCHESTER, Vt. (January 27, 2007) - Magen McNeil (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Vernon Dupree (Wilmington, Del.) each finished with 19 points as American International College completed the season sweep of Saint Michael's College with a 76-75 win in Northeast-10 men's basketball Saturday afternoon.  The Yellow Jackets, who have won six of seven, improve to 11-9 overall and 9-6 in the NE-10, while the Purple Knights sit 13-7 and 10-5 in the league.

Dupree finished 6-11 from the floor, while McNeil notched his 10th double-double of the season by grabbing 13 rebounds.  Lucius Millinder (Belleville, N.J.) added 18 points for AIC, while Jenar Harrison (Queens, N.Y.) registered nine points and seven boards.  Brian Monahan paced Saint Michael's with 26 points and 19 rebounds.

AIC trailed 38-32 at halftime and was down 63-55 with 10:15 to play on a basket by Monahan.  The guests would reel off 10 unanswered points and a three-pointer by Dupree with just under seven minutes left gave AIC a 65-63 lead.  James Sorrentine would respond with a three on Saint Michael's next possession to give his team a one point edge, but AIC would go on a 9-2 run, with a pair of free throws by Dupree with 1:22 left making it 74-68.

The Purple Knights, down 76-70, would score five in a row and a conventional three-point play by Monahan with 46 seconds to go made it a 76-75 game.  AIC would use the shot clock, but a three attempt by Dupree with 15 seconds left was off the mark.  Brendan Mullins would grab the rebound and attempt a shot with six seconds to go but it would miss, with Dupree grabbing the carom.

AIC would score the game's first eight points and held an 18-11 lead midway through the first half when the Purple Knights went on a 7-0 run to knot the game at 18 with 9:32 before intermission.  SMC would use a late 9-2 run to take a 38-29 lead with just under a minute left on a Ryan Rodrigues three but a conventional three-point play by Brandon Carter (Wilmington, Del.) with five seconds to go made it 38-32 at the break.

AIC held a 39-38 rebounding advantage for the contest.

AIC returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Assumption for a 7:30 tilt.
