MAGEN MCNEIL NAMED NE-10 MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. (January 29, 2007) -
Senior Magen McNeil (Philadelphia, Pa.) of the
American International College men's basketball team was named the
Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, it was announced by the
conference office on Monday. McNeil was honored for his play
in wins over UMass Lowell and Saint Michael's.
Last week, McNeil averaged 18.5 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, 1.5 assists and one block per game while leading the Yellow Jackets to a 2-0 record and six wins out of their last seven games. In a win Tuesday at UMass Lowell, he registered 18 points and seven rebounds while draining four out of his five three-point attempts. Saturday at Saint Michael's, McNeil notched his 10th double-double of the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds in a 76-75 victory. McNeil also recorded four steals in each triumph.
For the season, McNeil leads the Yellow Jackets in both scoring (16.1 ppg) and rebounding (10.1 rpg) while shooting .506 from the floor. He has led AIC in scoring 10 times on the season and ranks second in the Northeast-10 in rebounding and eighth in scoring, one of just two league players to rank in the top-10 in both categories.
