SAINT ROSE PULLS AWAY FROM MEN'S BASKETBALL

BOX SCORE

ALBANY, N.Y. (November 26, 2006) - Magen McNeil (Philadelphia, Pa.) posted his third straight double-double for the American International College men's basketball team with 14 points and 13 rebounds, but host The College of Saint Rose pulled away for a 74-59 Northeast-10 men's basketball victory Sunday afternoon at Nolan Gymnasium.  The Golden Knights are now 3-0 and 2-0 in NE-10 play, while the Yellow Jackets are 1-3 and 0-2 in the league.

McNeil went 7-13 from the floor and grabbed eight offensive rebounds.  Vernon Dupree (Wilmington, Del.) was the other Yellow Jacket in double figures as he tallied nine of his 11 points in the second half.  Jenar Harrison (Queens, N.Y.) and Lucius Millinder (Belleville, N.J.) each finished with eight points.

Steve Dagostino canned six three pointers and led all scorers with 20 points for Saint Rose.

AIC erased a 32-25 halftime deficit by scoring the first seven points of the second half to knot the game at 32-32 with just over 18 minutes remaining on a layup by McNeil.  After another tie at 34-all, the Golden Knights used a 13-0 run to make it 47-34 with 13:37 left on a Evan Lane basket.  Saint Rose would gradually pull away and took its largest lead with 6:26 left on a three pointer by Jermaine Clark.

The guests found themselves down 12-6 early, but six unanswered points capped by a McNeil basket with 13:05 left in the first half knotted the game at 12.  American International would take a 17-16 lead with 8:15 before intermission on a three by Ian Rogers (Valley Stream, N.Y.) but five straight points by Saint Rose gave them a 21-17 lead at the 7:11 mark.  Saint Rose scored the final six points of the first half and took a 32-25 lead into the locker room.

Saint Rose outrebounded AIC 40-37 and shot 11-24 from three-point land, including 6-14 in the second half.  The Golden Knights were 11-15 at the charity stripe, while American International was just 5-13 at the line.

AIC hosts Bentley Wednesday night in a 7:30 contest at Butova Gymnasium.
