Men's Basketball Falls to Top-Ranked Bentley 76-64

Box Score

Waltham, Mass. - The American International College men's basketball team dropped a 76-64 decision at top-ranked Bentley Wednesday night. The Falcons improved to 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play. Sophomore forward Aikeem Vanderhorst (Bay Shore, N.Y.) led AIC with a game-high 22 points on 10 of 15 shooting from the field and grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.

Five Bentley players scored in double figures, led by senior Nate Fritsch's (Durham, N.C.) 17 point effort. Sophomore Jason Westrol (Brielle, N.J.) and junior Lew Finnegan (Lexington, Mass.) tallied 15 and 14 points respectively, while senior Yusuf Abdul-Ali (Springfield, Mass.) and red shirt freshman Mike Quinn (Oakdale, Conn.) added 11 points each.

Junior forward Colson Senat (Montreal, P.Q.) netted 16 points for the Yellow Jackets after shooting 6 of 7 from the field and 4 of 5 from 3-point range. He also grabbed six rebounds and three assists.

The Falcons took and early 9-4 lead before AIC went on a 16-3 run to take a 20-11 lead midway through the opening half. Bentley answered with a 26-9 to close the first half and take a 39-29 lead into the locker room. The Yellow Jackets pulled within four points a number of times in the first half and were as close as 67-61 with 1:22 to go in the game, but were forced to foul down the stretch and Bentley pulled away at the free throw line.

The Yellow Jackets retune to action Saturday when they travel to Merrimack for a 3:30 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
