Brewster, Mass. – Freshman Garret
Beynor (Monson, Mass.) of the American International
College men’s golf team finished five over par (71-78-149),
placing him first among Division II competitors and tying him for
fourth overall, at the 73rd annual New England Intercollegiate Golf
Championship. He also earned first-team all-New England
honors. The Yellow Jackets tied with Amherst College for
27th as a team and finished ninth among Division II teams. The
Championship was held at The Captains Golf Course (par 72) in
Brewster, Mass. and featured 209 golfers from 42 teams.
The University of Rhode Island won the Championship with a +24 600
(302-298) for the two-day, 36-hole event. Bryant University was the
top Division II team with a +38 614 (313-301), while Salem State
College won the Division III title with a +43 619 (308-311). Brian
Crawley of Salem State was the medalist, finishing even for the
Championship (70-74-144).
Sophomore Andrew
Mesheau (Monson, Mass.) tied for 39th overall at +12
(79-77-156) and was 14th among Division II competitors. Sophomore
Michael McMillan (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.)
tied for 162nd with a +29 (90-83-173) senior Brent
Griffin (Leyden, Mass.) tied for 192nd at +36
(94-86-180) and junior Chad
Richardson (Regina, Sask.) finished 198th (94-89-183).
