Bentley Soars Past Men's Lacrosse 18-4

Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American International College men's lacrosse team dropped an 18-4 decision to visiting Bentley Saturday afternoon at John Homer Miller Field. The Falcons improved to 6-5 on the season and 4-4 in the Northeast-10, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 1-8 overall and 0-8 in conference play. Senior Leon Mularski (Ivoryton, Conn.) was honored in a Senior Day ceremony prior to the start of the game.

The Yellow Jackets held an early 2-0 after a pair if unassisted goals from freshmen Travis Ortensi (South Hadley, Mass.) and Aaron McNab (West Springfield, Mass.), but Bentley scored each of the next six goals, including three from junior Andy Curtis (Chelmsford, Mass.), to take a 6-2 lead 5:40 into the second quarter.

Ortensi scored his second goal of the game with 8:43 left in the second half before freshman Steve Murray (Billerica, Mass.) and sophomore Brad Tunis (Sudbury, Mass.) scored one goal each in a 53-second span to take an 8-3 lead two minutes later. Freshman James St. Cyr (Utica, N.Y.) got AIC back on the board with 44 seconds left in the first half, but freshman Matt Boilard (Wilbraham, Mass.) answered off the ensuing faceoff to give the Falcons a 9-4 lead at the half.

Curtis had a game-high four points (three goals, one assist) for Bentley and Boilard added two goals and an assist for three points. Freshman Joe Horowitz (Princeton Junction, N.J.) also had a three-point game with one goal and two assists.

Bentley's four goalies combined for 10 saves in the game and junior Kris Dambach (Chester, N.J.) got the win after making three saves in the first quarter. Freshman Mark Taylor (North Andover, Mass.) made nine saves in the first half in taking the loss and classmate Max Castleman (Wilbraham, Mass.) made six saves in the second half.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Tuesday when they travel to Merrimack for a 4 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
