Men's Lacrosse Falls to Assumption In Season Finale
Worcester, Mass.
- Freshman Travis Ortensi (South Hadley,
Mass.) and junior Mike Szawlowski (Leeds, Mass.) each scored two
goals but the America International College men's lacrosse team
fell to the Assumption Greyhounds 20-8 Thursday evening. The loss
drops the Yellow Jackets to 1-10 overall and 0-10 in the
Northeast-10. The win moves Assumption to 3-11 overall and 1-8 in
the conference.
AIC got off to a slow start falling behind 4-0 before Ortensi netted the Yellow Jackets first score with 33 ticks remaining on the clock in the first stanza.
After the Greyhounds scored to lead off the second period, making it 6-1, Oretensi scored again, moving AIC to within four scores. Despite the efforts from the freshman, that was as close as the Yellow Jackets, got trailing at halftime 8-2.
In the third period, AIC scored four times, but gave up eight scores. Freshman Max Castleman (Wilbraham, Mass.) replaced starting goalie Mark Taylor (North Andover, Mass.) in the third. Taylor turned back 11 shots in net, while Castlemen stopped one shot between the pipes.
Mike Molk led all scorers notching three goals for the Greyhounds. Assumption goalie Chris Bird made seven saves in net.
The contest marks the final game of the season for AIC.
