Franklin Pierce Tops Men's Lacrosse 13-6
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American International College men's lacrosse team fell to visiting Franklin Pierce 13-6 Saturday afternoon at John Homer Miller Field. The Ravens even their record at 2-2 on the season and are now 1-0 in the Northeast-10, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 1-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Freshman Aaron McNab (West Springfield, Mass.) tallied four points on three goals and one assist for AIC.
Franklin Pierce opened the game on a 4-0 run before sophomore Mike Swazlowski (Leeds, Mass.) got the Yellow Jackets on the board with 5:13 left in the first quarter, with an assist from freshman Alex Casparius (Portland, Maine). McNab netted his first goal of the game two and a half minutes later and the teams traded goals in the firdt minute of the second quarter to give the Ravens a 5-3 lead.
That was as close as AIC would get the rest of the way as Franklin Pierce scored three of the final four goals in the first half and outscored the Yellow Jackets 4-1 in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Junior Jason Flanigan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) scored four of his game-high six goals in the second half for the Ravens, two of which were scored on man-up situations. Freshman Jack Scanlon (Great Neck, N.Y.) had a four-point game, scoring one goal and handing out three assists.
Freshman Shea Campbell (Centerport, N.Y.) recorded 17 saves to record the win in net for Franklin Pierce, while freshman Mark Taylor (North Andover, Mass.) stopped eight shots for AIC.
The Yellow Jackets return to action when they travel to No. 7
Bryant Wednesday for a 7 p.m. Northeast-10 contest.
