SOUTH EASTON, Mass. (September 11, 2006)
- Chris Charles (Brooklyn, N.Y.), a junior on the
American International College men's soccer team, was named the
Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday
by the conference office. Charles was honored for his efforts
during a 2-0 week for the Yellow Jackets.
Charles exploded for four goals in a 8-0 win over Saint Rose on Saturday afternoon as the Yellow Jackets tied a school record for goals in a game. Charles had one tally in the first half then added three goals in a span of 2:24 in the second half to make it a 5-0 game. He also scored a goal in a 2-1 win over Post University earlier in the week.
For the season, Charles, who is a transfer from
Herkimer Community College, has tallied at least one goal in each
game and leads the Yellow Jackets with seven goals for 14
points. The Yellow Jackets, who are off to the best start in
school history at 4-0-0 (2-0-0 NE-10), return to action Wednesday
with a road game at Le Moyne before hosting top-ranked Franklin
Pierce Saturday night at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow.
