MEN'S SOCCER REMAINS UNBEATEN, TOPS POST 2-1
WATERBURY, Conn. (September 7, 2006) - Chris
Charles (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored his third goal in as many
games as American International College posted a 2-1 win over Post
University in men's soccer Thursday afternoon. With the win
the Yellow Jackets remained unbeaten at 3-0-0 overall, while the
Eagles dropped to 1-2-1 on the year.
The Yellow Jackets opened the game's scoring in the 29th minute when Charles scored his third goal of the season, with Greg Laronde (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) notching an assist on the play. American International doubled its lead just over 12 minutes later when Benard Kessie (Worcester, Mass.) scored off of a feed from Luke Consolini (West Springfield, Mass.). AIC would carry a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Post would notch its lone goal of the game at the 74:56 mark when Daniel Martins scored his first goal of the season.
Senior Matt Marcoux (Blackstone, Mass.) turned away four shots in goal en route to the victory, while Eagle keeper Dan Nadel made eight saves as AIC outshot its hosts 19-12.
AIC returns home Saturday when it hosts Saint
Rose in a Northeast-10 match at AIC Park beginning at 3:00
pm.
