Men's Soccer Loses Close Decision 1-0 to Merrimack
Springfield, Mass. - Chris Charles
(Brooklyn, NY) reeled off four shots and Mathew Marcoux
(Blackstone, Mass.) made four saves in goal, but it wasn't enough,
as the Yellow Jackets of American International College dropped a
tough 1-0 decision on the road to Northeast-10 rival Merrimack
Wednesday evening.
The Jackets fall to 1-4-3 overall and 1-3-1 in the Northeast-10 following the hard loss, while the Warriors improve to 8-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the Northeast-10.
Merrimack forward Donnie Aylward scored on an assist from Tiago Dalboni on a shot that took a tough bounce, eventually slipping through the legs of Marcoux. The game's lone goal was scored at the 35:45 mark in the first-stanza and would decide the game's 90 minute outcome.
Transfer Mert Kara finished off the game between the pipes for the Yellow Jackets complying just over 12 minutes of service.
Merrimack just nipped the Yellow Jackets in total shots 8-7, while recording just one extra corner kick 2-1.
AIC will host UMass-Lowell on Saturday September 22nd
at beautiful Lusitano Field located in Ludlow, Mass. The game is
slated to start at 7:00 pm.
