Purple Knights Post 2-0 Victory over Men's Soccer
Springfield, Mass. - Anthony Tranghese
(East Longmeadow, Mass.) turned away four shots between
the pipes for the Yellow Jackets but it wasn't enough to lift them
over visiting St. Michael's College, as they fell 2-0 in a
Northeast-10 match-up Wednesday afternoon at AIC Park.
Both of the Purple Knight goals came in the first-stanza as the second-half went without a goal. Jared Berry got the game's first goal after receiving a pass from Chris Omaggino, from the right corner. Tranghese rushed out to stop the pass but just missed, leaving Berry with the easy empty-net score.
St. Michael's got their second goal on a beautiful shot off of a free-kick from Omaggino. AIC was penalized just outside of the box leaving Omaggino with the awarded kick. Omaggino took advantage by sliding a shot to the top-left-half of the goal for the game's second score.
The Purple Knight's out-shot the Yellow Jacket's 12-9. AIC held a close 6-4 advantage in corner kicks 6-4.
The loss drops AIC to 1-6-3 overall and 1-5-1 in the Northeast-10 while the win propels St. Michael's to 8-1-2 overall and 3-1-2 in the Northeast-10.
AIC will travel to Southern New Hampshire Saturday September
29th for a 4:00pm start time.
