Men's Soccer Falls in Overtime 1-0 to Southern New Hampshire
NH- Mathew Marcoux (Blackstone,
Mass.) turned away five shots on net despite the Yellow Jacket's
1-0 Northeast-10 overtime loss to host Southern Hew Hampshire
College Saturday afternoon.
Regulation saw neither team score as AIC was out-shot 7-1 in the first-frame but earned two more shots in the second-stanza (5-3).
Gabe Mercier took a through ball from Ivan Boaventura just over nine minutes into overtime and smacked the game-winning goal past Marcoux to lift Southern New Hampshire to their third conference win of the season. Sean Lambert stopped three shots for Southern New Hampshire.
The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 1-7-3 overall and 1-6-1 in Northeast-10 action. The win propels Southern New Hampshire to 3-4-3 overall and 3-3-1 in the NE-10.
Overall, AIC was out-shot 12-7 and lost the battle of the corner-kicks 10-4.
The Jacket's will host Southern Connecticut College at Lusitano Stadium this Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
