Yellow Jackets blank Albertus Magnus 9-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American International College men's tennis team shutout Albertus Magnus on Wednesday afternoon, 9-0. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 3-4 on the season while the loss brings the Falcons record to 2-7 for the year. Senior Peter Almlof (Kennett Square, Pa.) won twice for AIC.

Almlof first defeated senior Bobby Leonzo (East Haven, Conn.) 6-0, 6-0 at first singles and then partnered with Robert Lubold (Holyoke, Mass.) to post an 8-0 victory over Leonzo and classmate Tom Eckert (Wallingford, Conn.) at first doubles.

Lubold also notched a 6-0, 6-0 victory over senior Roger Glynn (West Haven, Conn.) third singles, while sophomore Max Collins (Westfield, Mass.) posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout over Eckert at second singles.  At fourth singles, freshman Alex Dos Santos (Ludlow, Mass.) was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over sophomore Gerald O'Connor (Hamden, Conn.).  Sophomore Juan Ivars (Alicnte, Spain) beat junior Joe Sorensen (Westerly, R.I.) 6-1, 6-0 at the fifth singles, while junior Robert Dulfan (Worcester, Mass.) posted a 6-0, 6-3 win over sophomore Tim Foley (Chesire, Conn.).

At second doubles, Collins and Dos Santos defeated Glynn and O'Connor 8-0 while at third doubles Santos and Ivars notched an 8-0 victory over sophomore Jeff Theriault (Waterbury, Conn.) and classmate Alvin Davis (Nassau, Bahamas).

Next up AIC will host Stonehill at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
