BONAVITA NAMED NORTHEAST-10 FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE
SMITHFIELD, R.I. (May 5, 2006) -
Sophomore first baseman Teresa Bonavita (Agawam,
Mass.) of the American International College softball team was
named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference First Team, it
was announced Friday evening. The announcement was made at a
banquet on the campus of Bryant University in conjunction with the
2006 NE-10 Softball Tournament.
Bonavita, who started all 46 games for the Yellow Jackets this season, batted a team-high .335 and finished the season with 53 hits, good for second in the Northeast-10. She ranks among the league leaders in batting average, on-base percentage (.393), triples (4), total bases (71) and stolen bases (13). Bonavita had hitting streaks of nine and seven games this season and collected at least one hit in 20 of AIC's final 23 games and failed to record at least one hit in just nine of 46 games. She also led the Yellow Jackets with 11 multi-hit games, including a career-high four hits against Southern Connecticut on April 25.
Over her first two seasons, Bonavita has
registered 84 hits and a .293 batting average while swiping 28
bases. As a freshman she led AIC with 14 runs batted in and
has driven in 23 runs over her career.
