Goldson Named Freshman of the Week; Deegan and Elie make Honor Roll

Springfield, Mass. - Freshman Terri Goldson (Ansonia, Conn.) of the American International College track and field squad was named the Northeast-10 Freshman Field Athlete of the Week while junior Ashley Deegan (Madison, Conn.) and sophomore Katie Elie (Worcester, Mass.) of the softball team were listed on the weekly conference roll.

Goldson finished first in the men's high jump, leaping 1.94 meters and ninth in the triple jump, with a mark of 11.92 meters to lead the team at the invitation. Deegan was 1-0 with a 0.64 ERA in two appearances over the week. She went the distance, allowing one run on eight hits, helping AIC salvage a split with Assumption on Sunday. In all, the junior pitched 11 innings giving up 10 hits and only one run. She also struck out 11, walking only one batter. Elie had a strong week batting .500 with seven hits, two runs and four RBI in a six game span. She had a .500 on-base percentage and a perfect 1.000 field percentage as the catcher.

The track and field team will compete in the Northeast-10 championship next week.
