Brown, Franey and Swepson Earn Northeast-10 Weekly Softball Honors

South Easton, Mass. - Junior Kellie Brown (Gill, Mass.) and sophomore Sara Swepston (Dallas, Pa.) were named the Northeast-10 Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for their performances this past week. Sophomore Michelle Franey (Abington, Mass.) received honorable mention.

Brown batted .500 (9-18) with 10 RBIs, eight runs scored, four doubles, one triple and two home runs. She went 3 for 4 with five RBIs, three runs scored, two doubles and a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the fifth in AIC's 11-1 win over Queens and went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, two runs scored a triple and a two-run walk-off bomb in the bottom of the eighth in a 5-3 win over Ferris State. Brown was also 2 for 4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored against Rollins.

Swepston went 2-0 with two complete games in three appearances with 0.79 ERA in 17.2 innings for the Yellow Jackets. She allowed just two earned runs in AIC's 5-3 extra innings victory over Ferris State and went seven innings without allowing an earned run in the Yellow Jackets 5-2 win over Bentley. Swepston also tossed 2.2 scoreless innings in relief against Rollins.

Franey batted .368 (7-19) with six runs scored and two RBIs from the leadoff spot for the Yellow Jackets. She was 2 for 3 with three runs scored and one RBI in AIC's win over Queens and went 1 for 4 with a pair of runs scored, including the game-winning run, in the Yellow Jackets extra innings victory over Ferris State. Franey was also 2 for 4 with a run scored against Rollins.

The Yellow Jackets (5-4) return to action Thursday when they travel to Cadlwell for a non-conference doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m.
