Softball Sweeps Doubleheader Against Ohio Valley In Season-Opener

Clearwater, Fla. - The American International College softball team opened the 2008 season by sweeping a doubleheader against Ohio Valley at the USA Softball National Training Center. The Yellow Jackets took game one 13-0 in five innings and won the second game 6-2 in eight innings.

Junior Sara Puglisi (Amsterdam, N.Y.) picked up the victory in game one and sophomore Sara Swepson (Dallas, Pa.) recorded the win in game two. The second game was tied 1-1 in the top of the eighth when senior Kayla Donnelly (Pittsfield, Mass.) stepped to the plate with two runners on and plated them both to give AIC the lead for good.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Sunday when they take on the University of Mary and Queens (N.Y.) College at the National Training Center beginning at 9:30 a.m.
