DeMontier Earns NFCA All-Region Honors

Starkville, Miss. - Senior Tara DeMontier (Amesbury, Mass.) of the American International College softball team was named a first-team all-Northeast Region selection at third base by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Thursday. As a first-team selection, she advances to the Division II All-America ballot.

DeMontier, who was also named a first-team Northeast-10 all-star, started all 43 games at third base for the Yellow Jackets this season and led the team in most offensive categories. She batted a team-best .402 and connected on a team-high seven home runs in 2008 and led the NE-10 with a .527 slugging percentage. She was second on the team with 51 hits and 30 runs scored, 26 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.

The Yellow Jackets finished the season with an overall record of 19-24, which included the 900th career victory for head coach Judy Groff, and posted a 10-18 record in the Northeast-10.
