Calenda Leads Men's Track at 2007-2008 NE-10 Championships
New Haven, Conn. - The American
International College men's indoor track team finished sixth
overall at the 2007-2008 Northeast-10 Indoor Track and Field
Championship held at Southern Connecticut University Saturday
afternoon. Maurice Calenda (Bloomfield, Conn.) led the way for the
Yellow Jackets finishing second overall in the long jump, leaping
7.00m. He also grabbed fourth in the 200-meter dash, racing to a
22.83.
Calenda was not the only member of the squad to perform well in the meet. Terri Goldson (Ansonia, Conn.) finished in a tie for second place in the high jump posting a score of 1.88m. Deion Lawson also earned the team points, placing third in the 55-meter hurdles.
Other notable finishes for the Yellow Jackets were Creig Levens (Coheos, N.Y) who placed sixth in the 500-meter and Matt Hagerty (Springfield, Mass.) who held down eighth in the 3000-meter run. The 4x400 meter squad of Calenda, Lawson, Lloyd Brown (Bloomfield, Conn.) and Antoine Relerford (Bloomfield, Conn.) also placed fourth with a 3:40.55.
