Calenda Named Freshman of the Week, Lawson Makes Honor Roll

North Easton, Mass. - Freshman Maurice Calenda (Bloomfield, Conn.) was named the Northeast-10 Freshman Field Athlete of the Week after his performance in the long jump at the Yale Season Opener. Classmate Deion Lawson (Rahway, N.J.) was named the Weekly Honor Roll.

Calenda placed second in the long jump with a distance of 6.78 meters, which was just 0.02 meters behind the first place performance of Yale's Reynolds Holmes. He also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.07.

Lawson turned in a third-place finis in the 60-mete hurdles with a time of 8.56 and finished ninth in the long jump at 6.12 meters.

AIC will next compete at Tufts' Jumbo Invitational Jan. 12.
