Jackets Split Pair at Southern Connecticut
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - American International College
competed in a two-match tournament at Southern Connecticut College
earlier this afternoon. Southern Connecticut, AIC and
Concordia College all played one another. AIC downed Southern in
their first match and fell to Concordia in their final match.
In the day's first match, American International defeated SCSU 3-1 (30-19, 30-25, 24-30, 30-27). For Southern, Junior Maria Arenas (Stratford, Conn.) tied for the match-high with 14 digs. Sophomore Manjit Chase (Alexandria, Va.) led the Owls with 22 assists. AIC posted three doubles in the first match of the afternoon. Alicia Cotton (11 kills and 11 digs), Charisse Trotman (17 kills and 13 digs) and Kambryn Williams (11 kills and 14 digs) turned the trick while Ozge Ozkan posted a match-high 38 assists.
In the second match of the afternoon, Concordia defeated AIC 3-0 (30-25, 30-26, 30-27). Shannon Flaherty led the way for Concordia, as she recorded a double-double with 11 digs and a match-high 36 assists to go with four aces. Maddy Lorenz added a match-high 12 kills. For AIC, Ozge Ozkan posted a double-double in defeat with 21 assists and a match-high 12 digs.
The Jackets will face off against Stonehill September 19th, 2007. The match will start at 7:00 pm.
