NO. 15 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DOWNS DOLPHINS, PICKS UP 20TH WIN

BOX SCORE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 12, 2007) - Stacy Boisvert (Agawam, Mass.) registered 17 points to lead No. 15 American International College to a 61-42 victory over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 women's basketball Monday evening at Butova Gymnasium.  The Yellow Jackets won their eighth straight to improve to 20-4 overall and 15-4 in NE-10 play, while the Dolphins are now 9-16 and 5-15 in the league.

With the win, American International picked up its fourth-straight 20-win season, seventh in the past eight seasons and ninth under 14-year head coach Pete Cinella.  It marks the first time in program history AIC has posted four straight 20-win seasons.

Boisvert finished 6-13 from the floor and 5-6 from the free throw line.  Lexanne Dickerson (Carthage, Ill.) added 14 points and five board, while Alexis Castro (Chula Vista, Calif.) recorded eight points, 11 rebounds and seven assists.  Katie Dunn led all scorers with 18 points for Le Moyne, going 4-6 from three-point land.

The hosts never trailed in the contest and built a 20-8 lead midway through the first half on a basket by Boisvert.  AIC would take its largest lead of the first 20 minutes with 1:10 left before halftime on a Kristin Boesenberg (Pocono Pines, Pa.) three-pointer.  The Yellow Jackets would take a 33-20 lead into the locker room and would put the game away by outscoring the Dolphins 11-4 over the first six minutes of the second half to make it 44-24 on a pair of free throws by Mirlane Francois (Miami, Fla.).  Le Moyne would get no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.

American International outrebounded Le Moyne by an overwhelming 53-24 margin, including a 23-7 advantage on the offensive glass.  The Yellow Jackets went 17-18 at the free throw line and limited the Dolphins to just 30.6% shooting from the floor for the contest.

AIC returns to action Wednesday night when it travels to Bentley College for a 5:30 contest.
