BENTLEY PULLS AWAY FROM NO. 13 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

BOX SCORE

WALTHAM, Mass. (February 15, 2007) – Sophomore guard Kristy McLean (Staten Island, N.Y./Poly Prep) connected on all four of her three-pointers and the Falcon defense yielded only 13 second-half points as Bentley College posted a 64-45 win over No. 13 American International College in Northeast-10 Conference women’s basketball Thursday night at the Dana Center.

Bentley, ranked fourth in the region, improved to 19-6 overall and 14-6 in the NE-10 after winning for the sixth time in seven games, the 10th time in 12 games and the 14th time in 17 games. AIC, ranked 13th nationally in Division II and third in the Northeast Region, dropped to 20-5 overall and 15-5 NE-10 after having its best-in-the-region winning streak snapped at eight.

Alexis Castro (Chula Vista, Calif.) was the lone Yellow Jacket in double figures, posting her 14th double-double of the year with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

McLean scored 14 points, sharing team-high honors with junior center Vanessa Lux (Arundel, Maine/McAuley HS). Senior guard Lauren Moore (Nashua, N.H./Alvirne HS) added 11 points, with three treys in the first half.

Bentley would lead by as many as 13 points in the first half, but AIC would close the first stanza with a 20-6 run to take a 32-31 lead into the locker room.  The Falcons opened the second half with a 19-4 explosion over the first 8:08, opening up a 50-36 lead.

AIC returns home for the final time in the 2006-07 regular season Saturday when it hosts Saint Rose in a key game starting at 1:30 pm.
