Women's Basketball Falls at C.W. Post 53-41

Brookville, N.Y. - The American International College women's basketball team dropped to 7-4 on the season after suffering a 53-41 loss at C.W. Post Wednesday evening. The Pioneers win was their fifth in a row as they improved to 8-4 overall. Junior forward Stacy Boisvert (Agawam, Mass.) led the Yellow Jackets with 14 points and four rebounds in the loss.

C.W. Post never trailed in the game, which was tied just once at 2-2 two minutes into the contest. The Yellow Jackets trailed 14-12 after senior forward Alexis Castro's (Chula Vista, Calif.) jumper at the 12:36 mark of the opening half and the Pioneers responded with a 17-3 run to take a 31-15 lead with 4:45 to go in the first half and took a 36-21 lead into the locker room.

AIC was only able to get within 10 points of C.W. Post twice in the second half, once after a jumper from senior forward Mimi Francois (Miami, Fla.) with 7:48 left in the game and then with 1:34 remaining in the contest on a basket from sophomore forward Sasha Lowery (Paterson, N.J.).  

Junior forward Whitney Murrer (Richmond, Va.) led the Pioneers with 14 points and six rebounds, while sophomore guard Jasmine Moore (Bronx, N.Y.) netted 13 points with eight boards and four assists. Junior guard/forward Katrina Ware (Newark, N.J.) and freshman guard Emily Hall (Montclair, N.J.) added nine points each.

Castro netted 11 points with four rebounds and two assists and junior guard Jen Moussette (Southampton, Mass.) added six points off the bench.

The Yellow Jackets shot just 32.6 percent (15-46) from the field and 21.4 percent (3-14) from 3-point range, while the Pioneers shot 40.9 percent (18-33) from the floor and 50.0 percent (8-16) from 3. C.W. Post scored 15 points off 16 Yellow Jacket Turnovers, while AIC managed just three points of 19 Pioneer turnovers.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Saturday when they host Southern New Hampshire at 3:30 p.m. in a Northeast-10 contest.
