Women's Lacrosse Ends Season with Loss at Bentley
Waltham, Mass. - The American International College women's lacrosse team finished the 2008 season with a 17-1 loss at Bentley Friday night. The Yellow Jackets wrapped up the year with a record of 0-16, including a 0-10 mark in the Northeast-10, while the Falcons improved to 7-9 overall and 6-4 in conference play. Senior Caitlin Mooney (Wilbraham, Mass.) scored the lone goal of the game for AIC.
Bentley led 14-0 at halftime and was up 16-0 before Mooney broke the Falcons' bid for a shutout with 12:07 to go in the contest, with junior Jessica Scearbo (Arlington, Mass.) earning an assist on the play. Mooney finished her career as AIC's all-time leading scorer with 158 points, which includes a school-record 132 career goals.
Senior Beth Gendron (Tyngsboro, Mass.) led Bentley's offense with four goals and one assist for five points. Classmate Liz Goddard (Acton, Mass.) scored three goals with two assists and fellow senior Bridget Fitzgerald (Winchester, Mass.) netted two goals with three assists.
Sophomore Christina Gugliemo (Fair Haven, N.J.)
made eight saves to record the win in goal for the Falcons, while
freshman Gina Gallo (Westfield, Mass.) registered
10 saves in taking the loss for the Yellow Jackets.
