AIC WRESTLING DOWNS DIVISION I WAGNER 39-8
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 16, 2007) -
Host American International College would take down seven of the
nine matches on the evening as the Yellow Jackets downed Division I
Wagner 39-8 Friday night at Butova Gymnasium. AIC improves to
6-9 in dual meet competition on the season, while the Seahawks fall
to 0-17 on the year.
AIC would win four matches by pin, with Nick Laurino (Merrick, N.Y.) pinning Dan Giordano at 165, Martin Thompson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) pinning Brendan Neary at 174, Dan Puccini (Ridgefield, Conn.) pinning Vincent Giordano at 197 and Kelvin Valencia (Hartford, Conn.) closing out the match by posting a pin of Angelo D'Amico in the heavyweight class.
Travis James (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) would open the evening with a 14-0 blanking of Joe Cipriano, earning a major decision, followed by a 19-3 technical pin by Sam Gauvine (Enfield, Conn.) at 141.
AIC returns to action next weekend when it travels to Pembroke, N.C. for the NCAA Division II East Regionals on February 23-24.
