TWO WRESTLERS REGIONALLY RANKED AS AIC PREPARES FOR NCAA REGIONAL
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 21, 2007) -
A pair of American International College wrestlers are ranked in
the top six of their respective weight classes in the latest East
Regional rankings released Monday. Sam
Gauvine (Enfield, Conn.) is ranked sixth in the 141 pound
weight class, while Jeff Haddad (Old Saybrook,
Conn.) is ranked sixth in the 133 pound weight class.
Both Gauvine and Haddad are considered the favorites from the
Yellow Jackets to advance from this weekend's NCAA Division II East
Regional being held at UNC-Pembroke to the Division II national
meet held March 9-10 at University of Nebraska-Kearney. A
wrestler must finish in the top four of this weekend's meet, which
kicks off Friday, i
n order to advance to the national tournament.
Haddad, a sophomore, and Gauvine, a freshman, have both been
successful for first-year AIC coach Chaz Seibert. Haddad has
compiled a 12-9 overall record while Gauvine currently sits at
14-7.
