Providence, RI - Rhode Island College won its fourth consecutive match with a 33-6 win over Div. II American International College at The Murray Center on Wednesday evening. The Anchormen won eight of the ten matches to improve to 11-6 on the season. Rhode Island College Head Wrestling Coach Jay Jones notched his 98th career win, needing just two more victories to become only the second wrestling coach in school history with a 100 or more career wins.


After splitting the first two matches, the Anchormen went on a run, winning the next six bouts to seal their sixth win in their past seven contests. Junior Mike Bonora (Nutley, NJ) won his 21st consecutive match to improve his record to 35-3 at 141 lbs. Freshman Mike Martini (Cranston, RI) won his 14th consecutive match to improve to 26-7 at 157 lbs. Senior Arty Privedenyuk (Springfield, MA) picked up his team-leading 11th pin with a win by fall at 165 lbs., while senior Ryan DeSisto (Warwick, RI) earned a win via pin at 149 lbs.

Sophomore Jeff Haddad (Old Saybrook, CT) earned his team-leading 17th win at 133 lbs. for A.I.C, which falls to 5-8 in the loss.  Dan Pucchini (Ridgefield, Conn.) also posted a win for the Yellow Jackets at 197.
