THOMPSON WINS TWICE, WRESTLING COMPETES AT SPRINGFIELD DUALS
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 17, 2006) -
Martin Thompson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) posted a pair of victories
Wednesday night as the American International College wrestling
team competed at the Springfield Duals against crosstown rivals
Springfield College and Western New England College. The
Yellow Jackets fell to the host Pride 41-4, but were narrowly
defeated by the Golden Bears by a 15-12 count.
Thompson posted a 17-4 win over Springfield's Rob Dombroskas to pick up AIC's only points against the Pride. Against WNEC, he posted a 6-5 win over Nick Newell.
Other winners in the dual match with Western New England were Bryan Cosgrove (Warwick, R.I.) at 149, Nick Laurino (Merrick, N.Y.) at 165 and Kelvin Valencia (Hartford, Conn.) in the heavyweight division.
AIC returns to action Saturday when it competes in Springfield's Doug Parker Invitational.
