Wrestling Team Places 13th at NCAA Eastern Regionals
Johnstown, Pa. - The American International College wrestling team is 13th out of 13 teams after the first day of the 2008 NCAA Eastern Regionals, hosted by the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown. Sophomores Sam Gauvine (Enfield, Conn.) and Jeff Haddad (Old Saybrook, Conn.) and freshman Carlos Lara (Avon, Conn.), seeded sixth at 141, 133 and 125 lbs., advanced to the quarterfinals in the consolation bracket quarterfinals at their respective weight classes. Wrestling Beats Division I Wagner, Falls To Gardner Web In Tri-Meet
Staten Island, N.Y. - The American International College wrestling team went 1-1 in a tri-meet at Division I Wagner, defeating the host Seahawks, 19-18, and falling to Gardner-Webb, 24-18. Junior 133-pounder Jeff Haddad (Old Saybrook, Conn.) recorded a win by pinfall over the Bulldogs' Rob Tate and defeated Wagner's Nick Boghos, 3-1. [more]
