PURPLE KNIGHTS PUSH PAST AIC 3-1

BOX SCORE

COLCHESTER, Vt. (September 27, 2005) - Freshman Caitlin Cronin (Dalton, Mass./Saint Joseph's Central) scored two goals as Saint Michael's College rallied past American International College, 3-1, in Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer action on Tuesday on Duffy Field at Doc Jacobs Complex.

For the Purple Knights, freshmen Tessa Schraven (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Baker) and Kelley Ruch (Woodstock, Vt./Woodstock Union) assisted on Cronin's goals, while senior Judy Cronin (Norfolk, Mass./King Philip Regional) tallied an unassisted goal. Sophomores Gillian Goldman (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) and Molly Cole (Dover, N.H./Dover) each played one half in goal, with Goldman stopping two shots and Cole recording the victory, as Saint Michael's (3-7, 1-6 NE-10) snapped a three-game losing skid and won its first conference game of the season.

For the Yellow Jackets, sophomore Joanne Germano (West Springfield, Mass.) scored off of assists from junior Lindsay Wolfe (Westfield, Mass.) and sophomore Caitlin Mooney (Wilbraham, Mass.). Freshman Danielle Hodecker (West Springfield, Mass.) turned aside two shots for AIC (1-7-1, 0-6-1 NE-10).

AIC opened the scoring 21 minutes into the contest, as Germano converted for her team-leading third goal of the season. The Purple Knights evened the score 10 minutes before halftime, as Caitlin Cronin connected off of a beautiful through pass from Schraven for her second career goal.

The Purple Knights took the lead for good in the 58th minute, as Ruch outraced Hodecker to a loose ball and slid a pass to Caitlin Cronin in front of the net. Twenty minutes later, Judy Cronin gave Saint Michael's some breathing room with an unassisted goal, her third score of the season, from 18 yards out.

AIC next hosts Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday at 12 p.m.
