WOMEN'S SOCCER EDGED BY MERRIMACK

BOX SCORE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 11, 2006) - Visiting Merrimack College scored twice in the second half to edge American International College 2-1 in Northeast-10 women's soccer at AIC Park Wednesday afternoon.   The Warriors are now 12-2-1 overall and 8-2-1 in Northeast-10 play, while AIC is 1-12-1 and 0-11-0 in the league.

After a scoreless first half, Merrimack got on the board just over 15 minutes into the second half when Catie Hall blasted a shot from 20 yards out.  Hillary McGarr assisted on the tally.  10:06 later, Amy Pelletier scored on a blast from 15 yards to give Merrimack a 2-0 lead, with Heather Carr assisting.

AIC closed the gap to 2-1 with just under seven minutes to play when Joanne Germano (West Springfield, Mass.) scored off a feed from Lauren Aberdale (Southampton, Mass.).

Merrimack keeper Cait Stephan made one save over the first 45 minutes before giving way to Nicole Snizek, who did not make a save.  AIC goalie Danielle Hodecker (West Springfield, Mass.) turned aside 10 shots.  The Warriors outshot the Yellow Jackets 24-2.

AIC returns to action Sunday when it travels to Franklin Pierce College for a 3:00 game.
