SKYHAWKS SOAR PAST WOMEN'S SOCCER

BOX SCORE

EASTON, Mass. (October 4, 2006) --  Goals by juniors Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass.) and Ashley Bourne (Brockton, Mass.) lifted Stonehill to a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference women’s soccer victory over American International Wednesday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.

Boyd gave the host Skyhawks (5-3-3, 4-3-3 Northeast-10) the only marker they would need in the 39th minute of play after converting a direct kick off the foot of junior Meghan O’Brien (Stow, Mass.), and Bourne added an insurance tally for Stonehill just 14 seconds into the second half when she converted a feed from freshman Kelly Regan (Mansfield, Mass.) to close out the scoring.

Junior Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass.) and sophomore Marissa Bramwell (Norton, Mass.) made three saves to pick up their second straight combined shutout in goal for the Skyhawks, while sophomore Danielle Hodecker (West Springfield, Mass.) made 10 stops in net for the visiting Yellow Jackets (1-11-1, 0-10 Northeast-10) as Stonehill outshot American International by a 25-4.

American International will be idle until next Wednesday afternoon when the Yellow Jackets host Merrimack in a Northeast-10 match in Springfield, Mass. that begins at 3:30 p.m.
