WOMEN'S SOCCER SET DOWN BY PACE

BOX SCORE

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (September 12, 2006) - Sophomore Casey Melilli (Poughkeepsie, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) scored her first career goal and assisted on another for the first points of her career as Pace University used three first half goals to down Northeast-10 Conference opponent, American International College, 4-1, in a game played at Pace Field on the Briarcliff campus.

Lauren Palmer (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) scored the game's first goal in the 19th minute of play off a pass from Melilli.  Melilli received the ball on a fast break and passed to Palmer from the left flank to the front of the goal where Palmer scored her second goal of the season.

The Setters would get their second goal of the game off a broken play.  After a Setters' corner kick, American International's goalkeeper could not handle the ball, letting it roll to the center of the net where Pace freshman Nina Schoeler (Pittsgrove, NJ/AP.Schalick) pounced on it.  Schoeler blasted a shot from five yards are to the open net to give Pace a 2-0 lead with just under 15 minutes to play in the 1st half. Melilli would score in the 42nd minute on a pass from Allison Levine (Endicott City, MD/Wikk Lake) to give Pace a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

American International would jump on the board on their only shot-on-goal of the game.  Joanne Germano (W. Springfield, MA/Cathedral) blasted a shot from 20 yards out that grazed the fingertips of Pace goalkeeper Jocelyne Durando (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury).

Kelly Fazio (Ann Arbor, MI/Saline) closed out the scoring on the afternoon, scoring on a breakaway for her third goal of the season.

In net, Durando allowed the only shot-on-goal she saw on the afternoon over 82:14.  She was relieved by freshman Jacqueline Gogel (Whippany, NY/Whippany Park) who saw her first minutes of the season.  For American International, Danielle Hodecker (West Springfield, MA/West Springfield) allowed four goals while making four saves in net over 90 minutes.
