Women's Soccer Takes down Assumption 1-0

Springfield, Mass - . Behind a goal from senior forward Joanne Germano (West Springfield, Mass.) and a three-save shutout from freshman goalie Kara Potts (Westfield, Mass.), the American International College women's soccer team defeated the Greyhounds of Assumption College 1-0 in a Northeast-10 clash Saturday afternoon at AIC Park.

The win propels the Yellow Jackets to 2-3 in the Northeast-10 and 4-4 overall while the loss drops the Greyhounds to 2-4-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the Northeast-10.

The game was a stalemate until the 54:14 mark in the second-stanza when Germano took a powerful shot on net that was redirected by the goalie back to Germano for the trap in, game-winning goal.

Lauren Matysiak recorded eight saves in net for Assumption who was out-shot 14-8 in the game.

American International College will return to action September 17th when they pay a visit to Westfield State for a 7:00 pm kick-off.
