Women's Soccer Picks up Sixth Victory of the Year over Non-Conference NYIT
Springfield, Mass. - Senior forward
Joanne Germano (West Springfield, Mass.) powered home two goals as
the American International College women's soccer team downed
non-conference foe, the New York Institute of Technology 3-2
Thursday evening.
Germano started the scoring off, tallying an unassisted goal just over 26 minutes into the first-frame when she took a header off of a rebound and pushed it past NYIT goalie Jenna Ament. Ament turned away five shots in net on the evening.
NYIT would tie the score on a Krista Yulfo goal just over two minutes after the Germano score, tying the contest.
AIC would strike back when Courtney Roberts (Far Rockaway, N.Y.), beat a defender to the right of the box and struck a shot to the back-of-the-net.
Nearly 30 seconds after the Roberts goal, Germano struck again, beating a pair of defenders and shooting the ball just out of the reach of an extended Ament.
NYIT would tack on one more goal late in game, but it wasn't enough to rally them to victory as the Yellow Jackets earn their sixth victory of the season, moving them to 6-4 overall. NYIT fell to 3-4 following the loss.
Danielle Hodecker (West Springfield, Mass.) made four saves between the crease for AIC.
The Jacket's will next travel to Bentley College this Saturday
to take on the Falcons. Game time is slated for 4:00pm.
