Boxscore

LOWELL, MA (Sept. 9, 2007) - Senior Jenna Tulley scored one goal and set up two others as UMass Lowell defeated American International College, 5-0, Sunday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer clash at Cushing Field.

With the victory, UML improved to 5-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the Conference entering Wednesday's match at Le Moyne (4:00). AIC slipped to 2-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the NE-10.

The win was UML's fourth shutout of the season, backstopped by sophomore G Jamie Gillis who had two saves.

Following a scoreless first half, Tulley set up two goals just 1:04 apart to give the River Hawks a quick 2-0 cushion. Sophomore F Kelly Soper opened the scoring - her fifth goal in the last three matches - in the 56th minute when Tulley split the defense with a through-ball, enabling for a one-on-one with AIC goalkeeper Kara Potts (Westfield, MA).

Sixty-four seconds later, Tulley then scored in the 67th minute when senior D Margaret Gonsalves launched a volley from the back which was misplayed by Potts, enabling Tulley for an uncontested shot.

In the 72nd minute, junior M Grace Larsen sent a volley from the back to senior F Tanekar Alexander , enabling for a breakaway goal. Larsen capped the scoring in the 80th minute when she tapped in a loose ball in the box from a Gonsalves free kick.

UML posted a 16-5 edge on shots, including 6-2 on target. Potts had one save for the Yellow Jackets.

Next up, AIC will host Pace September 11th at 3:30 pm.
