Women's Soccer Marches over Golden Falcons 3-0

Boxscore

Springfield, Mass.  - Senior forward Joanne Germano (West Springfield, Mass.) tallied a pair of goals as American International College downed Felician College 3-0 in a non-conference match-up Saturday afternoon. The win moves AIC to 2-1-0 overall while the loss drops Felician to 0-1-0 on the season.

AIC dominated the entire contest, out-shooting Felician 23-10, while controlling the pace of the game from start-to-finish.

The only goal of the first-stanza was scored by Morgan Mastronardi (Corunna, Ontario). Mastronardi took a cross from freshman Sarah Boornazian (Farmington, Conn.) and struck it past the keeper, giving AIC a 1-0 advantage.

The Yellow Jackets would add two more goals in the second-half. Germano's first goal came after she defeated a defender one-on-one and curved a perfectly placed shot past Golden Falcons goalie Amanda Musarra. The goal received a well-deserved applaud from the AIC fans.

Germano scored one more time after taking a breakaway feed from senior Lindsey Wolfe (Westfield, Mass.) and placing it gently by the goalie for the third and final score of the afternoon.

Danielle Hodecker (West Springfield, Mass.) knocked back six shots in net for AIC while Musarra stopped seven Yellow Jacket goal scoring opportunities for the Golden Falcons.

The Yellow Jackets next contest will be September 5th when the host Northeast-10 rival Le Moyne. The game time is set for 3:30 pm.
