LUDLOW, Mass. -- The women's soccer team dropped a 6-2 decision to Stonehill Tuesday at Lusitano Stadium in. The Skyhawks improved to 5-4-2 on the season and in the Northeast 10, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 6-8-0 overall and 2-7-0 in conference play. Senior Joanne Germano (Agawam, Mass/Cathedral) and Courtney Roberts (Far Rockaway, N.Y./Sinatra School of the Arts) scored one goal each for AIC.

Senior Lauren Boyd (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) and sophomore Erin Bazinet (Charlton, Mass./Shepherd Hill) scored two goals each for Stonehill. Bazinet scored the first two goal of the game in the 14th and 19th minutes before freshman Caitlin McEvily (New Rochelle, N.Y./The Ursuline School) netted what proved to be the game-winner off a rebound in the 31st minute.

AIC answered with 2:23 remaining in the first half on Germano’s penalty kick. The Yellow Jackets cut the deficit to one goal 3:01 into the second frame when Roberts headed a crossing feed from senior Lindsey Wolfe (Westfield, Mass/Westfield).

Boyd made it a 4-2 contest five minutes later after breaking through the AIC defense and capped the scoring on a breakaway with 4:32 remaining in the match. Senior Ashley Bourne (Brocton, Mass./Brocton) added an unassisted goal in the 60th minute for the Skyhawks.

Senior Alex Eckhardt (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield) made seven saves to record the win for Stonehill, while freshman Kara Potts (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) stopped seven shots in taking the loss.

The Yellow Jackets return to action Tuesday, Oct. 9, at Merrimack at 7 p.m., while the Skyhawks host Southern New Hampshire Saturday at 11 a.m.
