Yellow Jackets Fall To St. Rose 3-2 In Overtime

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Junior forward Kailey Egbert (Camp Hill, Pa.) scored the game winning goal in the 99th minute to give fourth-ranked College of St. Rose a 3-2 overtime victory over American International College Saturday afternoon at AIC Park. Senior forward Joanna Germano (West Springfield, Mass.) scored twice for the Yellow Jackets on Senior Day.

Egbert took a feed from sophomore midfielder Courentay Gannon (Newburgh, N.Y.) off a corner kick with 1:30 remaining in the first overtime for the Golden Knights, who remained undefeated at 14-0-2 overall and 11-0-2 in the Northeast-10. Egbert also scored the first goal of the game to give St. Rose a 1-0 lead 5:16 into the match.

Germano tied the game in the 25th minute after dribbling the ball through St. Rose's defense and gave AIC the lead at 2-1 in the 49th minute off a crossing pass from freshman defender Sarah Tomlinson (Blackburn, England). Junior forward Sami Brown (Richland, Wash.) tied the game in the 62nd minute with an assist from senior forward/midfielder Ashley McGuire (Fish Kill, N.Y.).

Sophomore keeper Shannon Murphy () played the final 41:21 in net to record the win, while senior keeper Lauren Steinberg () made two saves and allowed both AIC goals in the first 57:04. Freshman keeper Kara Potts (Westfield, Mass.) made six saves in goal for the Yellow Jackets (7-12-0, 2-11-0 NE-10).

AIC will close out the 2007 season with a conference match at Southern New Hampshire Tuesday at 7 p.m.
