The Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team ran
its Northeast-10 Conference winning streak to five-straight matches
following a 7-2 victory over American International College here
today. SNHU improved to 6-2 overall and 6-1 in the league, while
the Yellow Jackets dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-6 in the NE-10.
AIC freshman Sarah Pfefferkorn (Ludlow, MA) was
only double winner on the day for either team. She posted a 6-1,
7-6 (7-3) victory over junior Lauren Nigrelli (Westerly,
RI) at No. 1 singles, and team up with Sara Strzempek to
earn an 8-6 victory over juniors Juliet Verhofstad
(Plymouth, NH) and Kristen Franco (Bedford,
NH) to No. 1 doubles.
Verhofstad posted a 6-2, 6-0 win over Strzempek at No. 2 singles,
while Franco earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over freshman
Tyler Rockefeller (Greenlawn, NY). SNHU's
Amanda Nason (Center Sandwich, NH) improved her
singles record to 7-1 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Kristina Temple
at No. 4 singles.
SNHU collected a win by default at No. 5 and 6 singles and No. 3
doubles.
SNHU returns to action Tuesday (4/3) when it travels to Bentley
College for a league match.
