South Easton, Mass. - Freshman pitcher #Kristen Dolan# (Norwood, Mass.) was named the Northeast-10 Softball Freshman of the Week for the third time this season after going 2-1 with a 0.64 ERA and 25 strikeouts in three games last week. She scattered 11 hits over nine innings of relief in a 7-6 extra-inning win over Pace and fanned five in a complete-game shutout at UMass Lowell. She also registered 11 strikeouts in six innings against Stonehill.

Lowell, Mass. - The American International College softball team swept a Northeast-10 doubleheader at UMass Lowell Sunday afternoon, winning game-one 2-0 and game-two 10-8 in 10 innings. The Yellow Jackets closed the regular season with an overall record of 23-21 and 15-13 in the NE-10 and locked-up at least the seventh-seed in the upcoming conference championship tournament.

EASTON, Mass. – The American International College softball team lost both ends of their doubleheader at Stonehill Saturday afternoon. The Yellow Jackets lost the first game 5-3, and then lost the back end 3-0. With the losses AIC falls to 21-21 this season and to 13-13 in the Northeast-10, while the sweep the Skyhawks improve to 13-25 this year and to 13-13 in the conference.

The Setters took game-one 2-0.

Judy Groff has been on the winning side of 922 games in her 41 years as head softball coach at American International College, but unfortunately too few have been in recent years. Maybe that's why it's so gratifying for an old sportswriter, a junior at AIC in 1969 when Groff began the softball program at the school, to see that this year's Yellow Jackets are on the cusp of making the Northeast 10 tournament for the first time since 2003.
